BEVY is an Italian grocery home delivery service, during the pandemic their user base and customer retention rate increased.

Brief Objective

The goal of this project was to design a mobile app for BEVY, an Italian grocery home delivery service, in order to capitalize on the momentum gained in 2021 and build a lasting relationship with their growing user base.

My Tasks

  1. Market Benchmark

    Conducted a comprehensive mapping of significant grocery delivery services in Europe, analyzing their apps and websites. Created a Figma file detailing positive and negative aspects related to screen layout, information architecture, colors, tone of voice, etc. Summarized findings into a table presented to the client.

    This phase made it possible for stakeholders to become actively involved in the design process, enhancing our understanding of the business needs. Additionally, mapped and identified prevalent design patterns in the market.

  2. Design Concepts

    Aligned the app design with existing touchpoints while experimenting with layout and style, following brand guidelines. Developed both conservative and disruptive design concepts.

  3. New Feature - Recurring Orders

    Designed a feature allowing users to set up, add products, and change quantities for recurring orders, enhancing user control over each order.

  4. Redesign - Checkout Flow

    Revamped the checkout flow to reduce friction and improve accessibility, moving from a multi-page to a single-page flow.

Results

Positive User Feedback:
After an informal internal test, the users provided positive feedback on the revamped app and its new features.

Improved Accessibility:
Streamlined the checkout flow resulted in a more accessible and efficient user experience.

Impact

The mobile app redesign positively impacted user engagement, satisfaction, and overall customer experience. The introduction of recurring orders and the revamped checkout flow contributed to increased customer loyalty and ease of use.

Established a UI Kit:
Iterated through various styles to create a friendly yet not overly extravagant UI Kit that resonated with BEVY's adult user base.

Enriched Customer Experience:
Ensured the app complemented the overall customer experience and simplified the ordering process.

Achievements and Growth

Key Takeaway

The project emphasized the importance of involving stakeholders in the design phase, especially with a prototype. Discovering previously unknown insights about the market or company from stakeholders proved crucial in designing effective solutions for both users and the client.

Personal Growth

Learned the significance of collaboration with stakeholders, leveraging their insights to create solutions aligned with business needs. Acknowledged the importance of continuous iteration to achieve a design that not only meets but exceeds user expectations.

In conclusion, the BEVY mobile app redesign not only achieved its immediate objectives but also fostered a deeper understanding of the symbiotic relationship between user experience and stakeholder collaboration.
